Children ages 3 and up gather petals and leaves, tuck them between the layers and close the press. In time they have dried, preserved specimens for cards, frames and nature journals.

Specifications

Brand: Tender Leaf Toys

Size: 8.3 x 8.3 inches

Layers: 10

Materials: made with sustainable, eco-friendly materials

Age: 3 years and up

Use: pressing and preserving flowers, leaves and plants

How pressing works

Lay a flower flat on one layer, cover it with the next and repeat until the stack is full. Close the press following the simple instructions. Patience is part of the lesson, along with careful observation while the plants dry. Ten layers mean a whole bouquet or a handful of leaves can press at once in the 8.3 inch square.

Pressed plants become bookmarks, greeting cards, framed art and labeled pages in a first field guide. Older kids sort their finds by leaf shape or petal count and start to notice how plants differ, which is botany without a textbook. Collecting and pressing plants also builds patience, observation skills and an early interest in science, while children develop an appreciation for the natural world. Autumn leaves, spring blossoms and summer grasses each give a different result, so the press earns a place in the craft cupboard all year. Tender Leaf Toys makes the press with eco-friendly, sustainable materials.

Built for small hands

Tender Leaf Toys designed the press for easy use by little hands, with a sturdy build that stands up to repeated use. Wipe the press clean after each batch, let any damp layers dry and store it flat. A flower press for kids this simple works as a shared activity with a preschooler or a creative outlet for an older child.

Safety information

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD -- Small parts.
