It combines alloy metal, engineering plastic and rubber, and every joint rotates freely so the arm can move and the cab can turn. Collectors and children both get a model that looks close to the real thing.

Specifications

Scale: 1:87

Size: 26 x 8.5 x 5.5 cm, or 10.2 x 3.4 x 2.2 inches

Materials: alloy metal, engineering plastic and rubber

Movement: all joints rotate freely

Colors offered: orange-yellow and yellow variants

Brand: Tipmant

What makes it worth the shelf space

Tipmant claims better than 95 percent similarity to the original machine, and the detail shows in the boom and the bucket. You can turn the upper body, raise and lower the arm, and curl the bucket to scoop sand. At just over 10 inches long it is big enough for sandbox digging, yet it still fits beside other 1:87 scale trucks on a display shelf.

Play and care

Rinse sand out of the joints after outdoor sessions and dry the die-cast excavator toy before putting it away, since trapped grit can stiffen the pivots. Rubber parts stay flexible if you keep the model out of direct sun. Tipmant suggests it as a gift for birthdays and holidays, and the small parts mean it belongs with children past the toddler years. Pair it with a dump truck and a loader and a child has a full job site on the carpet, with the excavator doing the digging while the others haul. Four color variants let siblings each claim their own machine. At 1:87 scale and 26 cm long, it works as both a sandbox toy and a desk model for a young collector. Tipmant describes all of its materials as eco-friendly, and the mix of alloy metal, engineering plastic and rubber gives the excavator a close likeness to the original up close.

Safety information

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD -- Small parts.
