The Reedy Sonic 540‑SP5 21.5T Spec Brushless Motor is designed for competitive 1/10 scale spec racing classes where smooth drivability, efficiency, and consistency are paramount. As part of Reedy’s SP5 motor platform, the 21.5T variant emphasizes controllable power delivery and reduced thermal fade, making it ideal for beginner and spec‑oriented racing categories.
Built to ROAR specifications, this motor is widely used in spec touring car and spec off‑road classes.
Performance and Design
At the core of the Sonic SP5 is a custom in‑house stator engineered to maximize torque output while maintaining stable RPM. High‑quality copper magnet wire is wound to the maximum allowable specification and treated with heat‑transfer epoxy to efficiently dissipate heat, minimizing performance loss during long race mains.
An oversized collector ring paired with thick, low‑resistance solder tabs reduces electrical losses, while a balanced rotor with a high‑strength magnet ensures smooth, fade‑free power delivery. Dual precision stainless steel ball bearings support high‑RPM operation with excellent durability and efficiency.
The lightweight two‑piece CNC‑machined aluminum housing features optimized airflow and an aluminum end bell with adjustable timing, allowing racers to fine‑tune motor response for different track conditions.
