Mini foam footballs for kids are sized for hands that cannot yet wrap around a regulation ball. How you use them
Start with short tosses across the living room. Foam gives a little when it lands in a child's hands, so a missed catch bounces off a chest instead of stinging. At 3 inches wide, the ball fits inside a small hand, so a young arm can grip it and throw a real pass. As skills improve, move to the yard and work on distance. Older kids can practice spirals in the hallway on a rainy day without much risk to picture frames.
Four colors turn a pack into games. Call a color and have your child pick that ball out of a pile, or give each kid at a playdate their own color so nobody argues over whose ball went under the couch. Daycares can keep a set in the gross-motor bin. Dogs who like to chase will chew foam, so keep the balls up between games.
