Kevlar kite string from 9KM DWLIFE suits anyone flying kites or rigging lines outdoors where ordinary cord frays. The hollow braided 100 percent Kevlar line comes in nine sizes rated from 50 to 1500 pounds, and it keeps its shape under load instead of stretching out.

What the braid does for you
Kevlar does not stretch, so the cord holds a kite or a tarp ridge at the tension you set. The hollow braid lets you splice it into loops, whoopie slings and other DIY rigging. Its cut resistance stands up to rough bark, rock edges and sharp tent hardware, and in a pinch you can even draw it back and forth as a simple cutting saw.
Heat changes the picture with most cord. Kevlar resists flame, which is why people tie it near camp stoves and chimney pipes. A spool weighs little and tucks into a backpack pocket, so you can carry a few hundred feet on a hike without noticing it.
Picking a rating
Heavier ratings come in thicker cord, from 2.3 mm at 750 lb up to 3.5 mm at 1500 lb. Lighter ratings run thinner, down to 1.1 mm at 200 lb and 0.5 mm at 50 lb, and those spools pack small for a day hike. For small kites, the 50 lb 0.5 mm spool runs 1000 feet. Check the spool label for diameter and length before you buy, since each rating pairs with its own length. Use gloves when you handle kevlar kite string under heavy pull, since the thin cord can cut skin when it runs fast.
