What the bearing does
The planar thrust bearing lets the load rotate smoothly through 180 and 360 degrees instead of twisting the rope or chain. The bearing resists wear, heat and aging and carries its own lubrication, which keeps the rotation smooth under an adult in a hammock chair or a kid spinning in a nest swing.
The same hanger handles a yoga sling, aerial silk, a sandbag or a set of Olympic rings in a garage gym. Anything that needs to rotate without binding and hold a heavy, moving load is the use case. The hanger also works for swing chairs, kids' net swings and other gear where you want reliable, smooth rotation and no twisted chain, indoors or out.
Installing the swing hanger
Install it directly on a solid wooden beam, cedar or rafter, which takes a few minutes. The one piece design has no complicated assembly. Hang your rope or cable from the hook, keep knots out of the rotating path, and stay well under the 1500 pound rating. Check the mounting at the start of each season and after heavy use. It works indoors or outdoors. Inspect it regularly for wear.
