How kids play
Line up the bells in rainbow order. Each one has its note and scale position printed on top, so a child can match the bell to the songbook. Tap the top of a bell and it rings one clear note. Follow the songbook and a tune comes together.
Start with a short song like Happy Birthday, then move on to longer songs as your child gets more confident. Flash cards add a game: hold up a card and have your child find the right bell. Siblings can split the bells between them and play a duet.
Desk bells help kids feel rhythm and hear the difference between high and low notes. They also teach turn-taking in a group, which makes them a good fit for daycare, preschool, church choir or a home music corner.
Keep these desk bells for kids on a tray between sessions so the set stays together. A child can carry the tray to the kitchen table for a quick concert after dinner.
Parents with no music background can still lead the fun, since each bell shows its note on top.
Older kids can try to play a song by ear once they know the notes. Hum a tune, then help them find the first bell. Each new song they figure out on their own builds their confidence with music.
