Details
A stainless steel spinning top from ForeverSpin is a desk toy meant to be handed down. Each top is precision machined from metal and polished to a mirror finish, then checked before it earns the ForeverSpin mark. Office workers, collectors and anyone who likes to beat their own spin time are the buyers.
Specifications
- ForeverSpin spinning top, stainless steel with mirror finish
- Height 1.4 inches, diameter 1.125 inches
- Weight 0.99 oz
- Precision machined from metal
- Dimensions chosen to minimize friction and stress on the tip
Why the proportions matter
A top spins longer when its tip meets the surface with as little friction as possible. ForeverSpin calculated the dimensions of this one to minimize friction and stress on the tip while still fitting hands of all sizes. At 1.125 inches across and 0.99 oz, it sits easily between a thumb and forefinger for a hard twist. Mirror-finished stainless steel takes fingerprints but polishes back with a cloth.
Fiddling with a top during a long call or a slow afternoon gives restless hands something to do. Many people find the quiet spin helps them think. Keep it next to the keyboard and pick it up whenever you need a short break from the screen. The mirror finish also makes it a piece worth leaving out on the desk.
Getting the longest spin
Launch on a hard, flat, smooth surface such as glass, a polished stone coaster or a hardwood desk. Pinch the stem, twist with a snap, and release straight down. Time each spin and try to beat it, or challenge a coworker to a head-to-head run for coffee. Wipe the tip and body with a soft cloth after handling, and store the top somewhere clean so the tip does not pick up grit.
