Match the pound rating to the kite, not to the wind you hope for. A 50 lb line suits small single line kites and children's diamonds, where a light line keeps the kite flying in a gentle breeze. Move to 80 lb for mid-size deltas, and pick 100 or 150 lb for large kites or anything flown on a gusty beach. Because it comes on one bulk spool, a single purchase can stock several reels or winders.
