Details
The KiwiCo Bake-a-Cake Stand Mixer is a solid wood play kitchen set that mixes pretend baking with early math for kids ages 3 and up. Children measure play ingredients, stir in the stand mixer and top a cake with candles. Along the way they practice matching, counting and simple fractions.
What's in the box
- Wooden stand mixer
- Candle-topped wooden cake with pink, blue and yellow candles
- Play baking ingredients and spoons
- Baking sheet
- Match-up recipe cards and activity mat
- Crate box that becomes a pretend oven
How kids bake and learn with the play kitchen set
Your child picks a recipe card and counts out the ingredients it shows. Into the mixer they go for a pretend stir. Then kids divide the ingredients into halves, quarters and sixths. Sharing a slice with a friend turns a fraction lesson into a snack time game.
The crate does double duty. Turn it into an oven and slide the baking sheet inside for play treats. Mix up the colored candles for a color matching round. Bring out play dough from home and divide it into parts using the pictures on the activity mat. Preschoolers get a hands-on start with numbers and parts of a whole, and it feels like pretend play the whole time.
KiwiCo has designed hands-on projects for kids for 15 years. The pieces are solid wood and can sit on a toy kitchen shelf when play ends. Pieces store inside the crate, which keeps the set together between baking sessions. Grandparents can join in as customers at a pretend bakery counter.
