How you use them in a lesson
Give each child a pair. Start with a simple pattern, tap the sticks together twice, tap the floor once, and let the group copy you. Add a recording and the children follow the pulse of the song. From there you move into partner games where kids sit facing each other and tap their sticks against a friend's, then to passing patterns around a circle. These are the exercises that build a sense of rhythm in preschool, kindergarten and early elementary music class.
The rounded ends keep the sticks from scraping fingers or floors. At 8 inches long and 0.8 inches in diameter, the sticks are the classic regular size for classroom rhythm work.
Split the 16 sticks between the two bags and you have one set for the classroom and one for a traveling music cart or an after-school program. At home, a parent and child can pass a pair back and forth during a favorite song, and siblings can join in with their own pair.
