How you use the felt figures
Felt sticks to flannel, so kids press a figure onto the board and peel it off again with no glue or tape. You might start by setting up the barn and a tree, then ask your child to add the animals one at a time. Older kids can invent their own farm stories and narrate them as they go.
Story Time Felts sized this set for small flannel boards, and the figures also work on a larger board if you already own one. Pick the figures-only option if you have a board, or choose the bundle to get the 12 by 18 inch flannel board with it. After play, slide the pieces back into the zippered pouch so they stay together.
The set has many small pieces. The maker lists it for ages 3 and up and notes it may not suit small children.
Felt figures also help with early lessons. You can name each animal as your child places it, count the animals in the barnyard or ask which figure is tallest. The tree stands about 5.1 inches tall and the chick about 1.5 inches, so kids can compare sizes right on the board.
