A Pinocchio marionette is the classic first string puppet, and The Original Toy Company makes this one in wood with detailed clothing and facial features. It stands about 14 inches tall before you count the strings. Kids 5 and up can learn to walk him across a table with a little practice.
Look and feel
The clothing and facial features are detailed, right down to the face every child recognizes. He looks the part on a shelf when nobody is performing, and he fits the hand of a child or an adult who wants to put on a show.
Marionettes take a little practice, and that is part of the appeal. A child who sticks with it for a week can make Pinocchio bow, sit and wave. After a month, he dances. The learning curve is gentle enough for a beginner and deep enough to keep an older kid interested. Hours of dramatic play come out of a single puppet once a child starts inventing scenes for him.

Keeping the strings straight
Hang the marionette by its control from a hook when it is not in use. Tangles happen when a strung puppet gets tossed in a bin. If the strings do knot, lay him flat, lift the control, and work the knot loose from the top down. Wipe the wood with a dry cloth and keep him out of the bath. Start a new puppeteer with one move at a time: lift the control to make him stand, tip it forward to make him bow, and rock it side to side to make him walk. Once those feel natural, the rest comes from practice in front of a mirror.

- Custom and handmade items are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged, as they are crafted specifically to order.
- Returns are only available for US orders. International orders are final sale.
- For health and safety reasons, personal care items (like baby creams, shampoos, balms, sunscreens, and lotions) and food products cannot be returned once opened.
- Jewelry and watches are not returnable.
