The M10 Tank Destroyer was developed by the United States as part of a dedicated tank destroyer doctrine intended to counter massed enemy armored assaults. Built on a modified M4 Sherman chassis and armed with a powerful 3-inch gun mounted in an open-topped rotating turret, the M10 combined mobility with significant anti-armor capability.
