These MEROCO rainbow ribbon wands are two wooden rings trailing six soft ribbons each, the Waldorf-style hand kite that gets a child running and twirling in the yard. Kids ages 3 and up grip the smooth ring and swing their arm, and the ribbons loop and float behind them. Parents get an outdoor toy with no batteries.
Design
Each ring is natural wood, sanded smooth and polished so it feels good in a small hand and does not catch on skin. Six fabric ribbons tie onto the ring, each 14.9 inches long as tied and 0.78 inches wide. Untied, a ribbon runs 2.95 feet, so you can retie them longer for a taller child. The ring measures 2.75 inches across. Choose a Rainbow Gradient, a Pink Gradient or the classic Rainbow Ribbon, or pick a Bell version that adds a jingle to every swing.
A ribbon wand is a sensory toy as much as a dance prop. A toddler tracks the color trail with her eyes, hears the bell ring on the Bell versions, and learns to time her arm swing to make the ribbons spiral. Preschool teachers use pairs of them for movement songs and parachute games.

Care
Hand wash the ribbons in cool water if they pick up grass stains, then hang the wand to dry with the ring up so the wood does not sit in water. Keep the rings away from the bath and the sandbox. Store the pair on a hook so the ribbons hang straight and do not knot. Two wands in the pack means a sibling or a playdate friend always has one, and a pair makes a party favor or a birthday gift for a child who likes to move.
