How you use it
Pick a design sheet, lay it beside the grid and copy the pattern block by block. Unicorn, elephant, house, butterfly and flower designs come in the booklet, and words spell out one letter at a time. Once your child has copied a few, the sheets go back in the box and the blank grid becomes a canvas for original pictures.
Fitting each block into the grid works the fingers the way lacing beads and puzzle pieces do. Choosing colors and counting rows builds planning and pattern recognition, the early bones of math. Parents can sit on the floor and build alongside, each taking half the grid. When the picture is done, you tip the board, the blocks fall into the box and the next design begins. Rounded corners on every block keep small fingers comfortable through a long session.
