An internal aquarium filter sits inside the tank and handles both pumping and filtering in one compact unit. The Pawfly model moves 80 GPH, uses a fine sponge, and suits small tanks of 10 to 20 gallons that hold ornamental fish, shrimp or fry.

Filtration and flow
The fine sponge traps debris and waste without sucking up shrimp or fry. You slide the knob to set the flow, and you can choose between the drenching pipe and the spraying pipe depending on how you want the water to move. Clear airline tubing lets air in and produces bubbles, which add oxygen to the water.
Cleaning the filter
Separate the pump from the filter, remove the impeller cover and clean the pump. Take off the bottom cover to pull out the sponge. Rinse the sponge every 2 weeks using aquarium water only.

This filter suits breeding and feeding setups with ornamental fish, shrimp or fry in 10 to 20 gallon tanks. The body measures 1.6" W x 5.3" H, and power use is 4 W.
