- Size:Adults typically reach about 1.5 inches (around 4 cm) in length.
- Body:The body is torpedo-shaped with a shimmering bronze or gold coloration.
- Stripe:A prominent iridescent white or pink stripe runs horizontally along the side of the body.
- Fins:The dorsal, anal, and tail fins are red, often with white edges, providing a striking contrast.
- Varieties:Besides the standard bronze/gold varieties, there are also golden and long-finned morphs available.
- Temperament:White cloud minnows are very peaceful and are excellent for community tanks with similarly sized, peaceful fish.
- Social Nature:They are schooling fish and are more active and interesting when kept in groups of six or more.
- Environment:They prefer planted aquariums with hiding spots and open swimming areas but are adaptable to unplanted tanks as well.
- Water Conditions:As temperate fish, they thrive in cooler water temperatures, though they can tolerate warmer conditions with good water quality.
- Diet:They are opportunistic omnivores, readily accepting high-quality flake foods, micro-pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods like brine shrimp.
- Tank Setup:A tank of at least 10-15 gallons is recommended for a small school.
- Hardiness:They are known for being hardy and forgiving, making them a great choice for beginner aquarists.
